How to start a successful and profitable business as a Virtual Assistant

The intention of this Blog is to educate my potential and existing clients on how to create the life they want while they are here on earth (because it is possible).

We have a group of people we are looking at.(niche)

We are looking at those individuals who are interested in becoming Virtual Assistants, or you are running a Virtual Assistant business and wants to grow it into a profitable and successful business.

I’m talking to professional women, or working from home moms, who wants to start but don’t know where to start. Maybe you want a side gig/biz, this is also for you. This business is an online business. Because you are running your own business, you don’t have to be working from the client’s offices, but you’ll work mostly online.

Most people think that Virtual Assistants or what is commonly known as VAs, are PAs. Virtual Assistants are Independent Contractors offering their skills to help a company. They manage their own time, and they are their own bosses. They negotiate the terms of their contracts, and they decide when they will be doing the work.

Of course, there are people who look for VA jobs, but in this case, we help you create a VA business. The difference here is that You don’t get to be employed as a VA, but your company gets hours of work in a company/business to assist with VA work.

When you choose to work with us, (because it is a choice. Everything is a choice in life. The life we live currently is because of the choices we made during this journey we call life)

Okay back to the brief:

When you choose to work with us, we will start first by helping you:

  1. Clarifying your Vision

You must know the type of business you want to create, and your intentions about this business. Only you can decide that. This is the main stage as it is important to know where you are in life, and where you want to go with your life. Especially if you want something great in your life. Obviously, this is not for everybody. Some people wake up in the morning, and they don’t care about what’s going to happen next. They are just comfortable with the life they live. If you are that person, this might not be for you.

Next Step:

  1. Strategize your Actions

This is about identifying what you need to do, for you to achieve your goals. You’ll obviously set goals that’ll guide you on what to focus on. You then have to identify actions to take to help you achieve these goals. We normally help our clients set yearly, quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals. We then help you identify monthly, weekly, and daily Actions to take to achieve these goals. That way we can track performance easily. Next Step:

  1. Upgrade your Skills

You know your vision, you’ve set up goals, but the question is “do you have skills to achieve your goals?” Sometimes we aspire for things that we don’t know much about. There’s nothing wrong with that because it’s part of growing up. It is then necessary to identify the list of skills needed by each goal and come up with a skill gap. Once we have identified the skill gap for our clients, we encourage them to attend trainings (formal or informal, depending on client’s preferences), workshops, conferences, or watch videos to develop those skills. There’s also an Exercise that we give to our clients to help them identify their skills gap. Next Step:

  1. Optimize your environment

Your environment must be supportive of the goals you want to achieve. For example, as a Virtual Assistant, because you will be working from home, is your home conducive for work without disturbances, e.g., a home office? Are you able to make calls without background noise? We help our clients to identify destructions that might affect their performance, and eliminate them. And finally, we look at:

  1. Mastering Your psychology

Mastering your psychology is all about creating a mindset for success. This is a very key step, as it is about you as a person. You are going to start looking at things in alignment with what we want. Success of a business does not only depend on the best strategies or marketing plan of the business, but there are intangible issues to look at. You need to program your mind to focus on other things other than what you touch, see, smell, hear and taste. In other words, there are important things that needs to be looked at that are intangible, and that normally control our behaviors.  We expose our clients to different tools that help them to develop a mindset for success. There are also exercises that we encourage them to do for the period of our programmes, to help them perform easily.

This is the Structure of our Programmes.

There’s a lot that we cover in our programmes to make sure that our clients benefit from our offerings.

The idea with the work that we do is to assist our clients to create a life that they’ve always dreamt of. The solution is always within the client, all we do is to unravel that solution, offer a helping hand, and to guide.

SO, if you’ve read this blog so far, we are assuming that you might be interested. So,

We would like to invite you to take advantage of our special Free “Clarity Session” that we normally offer to individuals who wants to know more about the work we do, and how they can partner with us. Who is in control?

We are all controlled by “How We Feel”. The feelings that we go through determines the next action we will take. Yet there are so many people who make decisions while they go through certain emotions.

What is an Emotion?

  • A conscious mental reaction (e.g., Anger or Fear) subjectively experienced as a strong feeling usually directed toward a person/something and it is accompanied by physiological and behavioral changes in the body.
  • A mental state brought on by neurophysiological changes, associated with feelings, behavioral responses and a degree of pleasure or displeasure.
  • A strong feeling derived from one’s circumstances.

All these definitions depicts that your emotions can overtake you. They can control you. For that reason, It is then clear that you can determine the type of life you want to live by choosing “how you feel.” It is not something that will come easily, you’ll have to practice and train your mind to take over. Letting your emotions rule you can be very dangerous.

A man is banned from attending the Oscars for 10 years over “a slap”. The poor soul was taken over by his emotions, and how he felt at that time, and he did something that even dented his image. The consequences are huge. Regrettably so, we all feel for him. I do.

This shows that when you let your emotions overpower you, you become a prisoner of your own body. When you go through an emotion, that makes you feel Anger, your body starts to react by being violent. The result might be that you end up in jail, you can get hurt, or you can even get killed or kill someone. Now that will be a huge consequence that you will regret for the rest of your life.

It is important to be in control all the time. Take charge of your emotions. Don’t let circumstances dictate how you feel. Choose emotions you want to go through.

The truth of the matter is that we are all chasing a certain “feeling” that will either make us feel good, or bad/sad.  Feeling good makes us manifest good things in our life. Feeling good make us manifest our desires fast. Feeling bad block our manifestation. You will not manifest anything if you are not in the right vibration and frequency.

So, the question is “How are you feeling right now?”

Is it a feeling that will make you do something you’ll regret later? Or is it a good feeling that’ll make you attract your desires faster?

Everyday as you wake up, choose how you want to Feel, and take charge of your emotions and your body.

THIS IS THE REASON YOU ARE NOT MOVING FORWARD

Most economies in the world are shrinking, and the South African economy is under huge pressure, collapsing. There are high rates of unemployment, yet humanity is expected to survive and be happy.

We are our best when we are happy. I’ve realized that most people who are successful in life, have found something they love, and became good at it. Nobody buys from anybody because they are there. People buy from you because you are exceptional. So, you’ve got to find something that you are good at, and you’ve got to become great at it.

Most people are not happy because they are doing jobs they don’t like. Some even hate their jobs. Most people are doing a job just to survive and earn a living. This is counterproductive because we are meant to happy. God brought us on earth for His purpose. The Bible say “He knew us before we were even conceived. Which means each and every one of us were carefully made and packaged. I personally believe that we were created for God’s purpose, and it includes us being happy.

Each and everyone of us has been packaged with talents and gifts, to help us serve our purpose on earth. To each and everyone of us, He gave abilities, e.g., an ability to walk, an ability to talk, an ability to think, an ability to hear, an ability to carry things etc. All of these were given so that we can function effectively and be productive. When we function according to God’s purpose here on earth, we become happy, because we are doing what we are meant to be doing.

To each and every man He gave a talent. To one he gave (five)5 talents, to another (two)2, and to another one (1), and to every man according to his ability. Which means there are those who’ll have more than one talent. It is normal. It is according to how Jehovah has given.

People find themselves in jobs where they don’t use their talents. The result thereof is that they are unhappy throughout their careers. Unhappiness results in diseases and sickness in their bodies.

The question now is “How many of you are using your talents daily in your jobs, your businesses, your marriages, your relationships with other people etc?”  In most cases I hear people saying they don’t know their talents. These are people who’ll be unhappy because they are not using their talents in their life. Well, if you are that person, here’s an Exercise that’ll help you to find what you love and what you are good at. Do it openly and honestly, and your life will never be the same again.

EXERCISE

STEP 1:

Make a list of your Skills and Interests in two columns and WRITE THEM DOWN.

The KEY to this is to WRITE THESE DOWN!!!  Don’t think you can do it all in your head.  WRITE IT DOWN.

Skills are (What are you good at/with?)

What I mean by skills is any skill.  It could be an intangible skill.  Think of EVERY skill you have.  It could be programming, making web pages, talking, listening, persuading people, typing, flirting, analysing, giving speeches, making things easy to understand, whistling, blowing bubbles with your spit, it could be anything.  Don’t be bashful. List everything you perceive your skills to be.

Interests are (What interests you/ what do you like/love?)

On your other column, lists your interests.  List EVERY interest you could possibly think of.  Spiders, shoes, hair, makeup, basketball, tennis, thinking of ideas, babysitting, walking, hiking, fireworks, helping people, making fun of people, fishing, exercising, karate, seashells, seaweed, can openers, anything goes.

Your interests can also include subjects you are knowledgeable about as well. Computers, economics, biology, basketball plays, football/soccer, magic tricks, etc.

To help you write down more interests, think of what you were interested in at school and write them down.  Also, think of what you were NOT interested in at school and write the exact opposite.

Asking yourself the following questions may shed some light as to what skills and interests you possess:

  • What kind of magazines or books to you like to read?
  • What kind of movies do you enjoy watching?
  • What do you enjoy doing (during your spare time)?
  • What do you spend money on?
  • What do like to give advice on?
  • Ask friends for any skills and interests they see in you.
  • What do you spend most of your time doing?
  • Go back and think of your accomplishments as a child.  What kind of skills and interests revolved around your accomplishments?
  • What did people praise you on?
  • What did your teachers or parents say you had a skill of?

Why am I emphasizing skills and interests here?

Because in your job or business, you’ve got to use what you’re strong with (skills).  And don’t say you don’t have any skills.  Everybody has skills.  You’ve just never sat down and thought about it and wrote it down.

You’ve got to love what you do (interests).  By including interests, you include another form of an anti-quitting mechanism. You’ll never quit what you love. That’s why interests are important.

AND PLEASE WRITE DOWN YOUR ANSWERS!

The reason why it is important to write your answers is:

  • It allows you to “free room” in your brain for new thoughts.
  • If I ask you, what’s 257 times 852, try doing that in your head vs. writing it down.  When you write it down, the answer comes out easier, not to mention more accurate.

NB: If you are doing this exercise honestly, you may find that your skills are gravitating toward ONE or TWO particular skills.  The same may hold true for interests.

STEP 2:

Set aside some TRUE alone time with no distractions to focus and figure out what you love to do by asking yourself the right questions.

It amazes me how people set aside time for cooking, watching movies, reading, but when it comes to their own personal future, they NEVER set aside any time.

In this step, Clarity is key.  The clearer the question, the easier the answer will be.

Based on Your Skills and Interests that you have listed Ask yourself this question:

(a). What would I love to do on a daily basis utilizing both my skills and interests?

LOOK AT A SKILL, AND PAIR IT WITH A CORRESPONDING INTEREST.

Write down all your answers.  Do it until you have 20 answers and look them over.  You will find that as you write down answers and look at them, it will in turn propel you to think of new creative answers that you would not have come up with before.

Ask yourself this question:

(b). Will my answer on (a) add significant value to people? How?

Why did I add the add value part?  Because in this exercise we are designing a JOB or BUSINESS for you. By including the question of how to add significant value by utilizing your skills, you automatically filter out all the “common answers” that people come up with when asked what they love to do.  Common answers such as:  “I love to watch TV.”  Or “I love to play video games.”  How do you make money out of such?

Answers such as this discourage people because they see no way of making money from it. So, we add the value part because we want you to make money out of what you love.  “When you know how you can add value to people, you’ll know how to get money”.

Most business owners tend to make the mistake of focusing on how to make money.  A lot of people fail to realize that money is just a by-product of adding value in the form of a product or service to people.

So, look over the list you just made and choose one idea that seems the most appealing to you.  You may find you can combine a few ideas into one idea.  Nevertheless, choose one idea that you will garner the greatest satisfaction not just for yourself, but to other people.

How will you know you’ve found the answer?

It must make you feel good. If you feel it in your gut, then it is the one. Your intuition/gut feel will tell you. You will feel at ease with the answer you came up with.

STEP 3: Industry and Vocation

Based on your answers:

  • What is your Industry?
  • What will be your JOB/Business?

I would like to hear your COMMENTS and how this Exercise has helped you.
